The College Learning Commons (CLC) has officially secured its place on the KLD Wall of Fame, a recognition that highlights the staff's tireless perseverance and dedication to transforming the campus library into a conducive learning space for students. Through their effort to elevate local learning, the College Learning Commons has worked relentlessly to expand KLD’s digital infrastructure, proving their determination to give Dasmarineños a resource-rich space for creative and academic growth. This distinction serves as a tribute to an office that consistently goes beyond traditional duties to foster a genuine love for learning, successfully managing complex logistics and utilizing spaces like the new Library Extension to build a powerful foundation for the entire academic community.
To ensure students have the best research tools available, the team successfully integrated premium global and local platforms into the college network. Through a partnership with Elsevier, they secured vital student access to top-tier, peer-reviewed global research in scientific, technical, and medical fields via ScienceDirect and Scopus. For extensive reading, they brought in the Perlego digital library, which offers thousands of international academic e-books. Students can unlock full access to this resource by scanning the campus QR code to request an access code and then finalizing the activation process via email with the CLC team at [email protected].
This global perspective is carefully balanced with local scholarship through the Philippine E-Journals (PEJ) database, which serves as a crucial resource for local literature reviews and national research. To maximize accessibility and remove barriers for students, the CLC simplified the entry process by creating shared institutional credentials, allowing users to log in immediately using the username and password "kldpej". Furthermore, the team maintains high standards of scholarship through an active subscription to Turnitin. By generating similarity reports, this tool goes beyond plagiarism detection to actively teach students ethical writing, critical thinking, and accountability.
