Aspiring Freshmen Share Their Journey to Becoming a Regal

A new wave of aspiring students has begun their journey toward their dreams. Three applicants from the incoming freshman batch shares their motivations, hurdles during the entrance exams, and their first impressions of KLD’s administrative process.

For Janver Tamonan, an applicant for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, the choice to join KLD was a blend of practicality and a genuine calling to help others. Tamonan noted that KLD’s reputation for a solid Nursing program was a primary draw, coupled with the school's proximity to his home. This convenience allows him to focus more on his studies rather than a grueling commute. When asked about the entrance exam, Tamonan admitted to feeling initial jitters, though he found the assessment to be entirely manageable. "It was bearable," he shared, emphasizing that as long as an applicant remained attentive and put in some review time, the exam was fair. He was particularly impressed by the hospitality of the staff, noting that despite the inevitable waiting periods, the organized flow and approachable personnel made the entire application experience a positive one.

The path was slightly different for Zhaira Mae R. Mecca, who is looking to enter the BS Psychology program. Mecca pointed toward the financial benefits and the proven track record of KLD graduates as her main motivators. "I was encouraged by the quality of education based on the achievements and feedback from previous graduates," she explained. Mecca’s experience with the entrance exam highlighted the academic diversity of the applicants. While she found the general exam manageable, the mathematics section proved to be a hurdle due to her background as a Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) student. Despite the unfamiliarity of some math concepts, she praised the administrative side of the process. She noted that while minor issues popped up, the staff’s willingness to guide her made the journey feel supported and welcoming.

For Lindsey E. Odchigue, applying to KLD was as much about identity as it was about academics. Aiming for the Nursing program, Odchigue proudly identifies as a "legit Dasmarineño" whose heart belongs to the city. She expressed a deep-seated desire to join the ranks of the "Regals," citing a mix of personal confidence and the practical advantage of the school’s free tuition.

"Since Nursing is expensive, I decided to take the opportunity to study without paying tuition," Odchigue remarked. Her transition through the entrance exam was smooth, describing the difficulty level as reasonable. Like her fellow applicants, she found the entire application process easy to follow and free of major friction, marking a successful start to what she hopes will be a fruitful college career within her home city.

As the admissions season continues, these interviews suggest that KLD remains a top choice for students who value a balance of academic rigor, financial accessibility, and a supportive community. Whether driven by local loyalty or professional ambition, the next generation of Regals seems ready to take on the challenge.
