Last April 21–22, 2026, a total of 1,311 incoming first-year students took a significant step toward a healthier and more secure future through the successful conduct of the PhilHealth Orientation and YAKAP Registration.

The two-day initiative was spearheaded by the Health Services Unit (HSU) in strong collaboration with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and the dedicated team from the PhilHealth Local Health Insurance Office – Cavite. More than an orientation, the event served as a gateway to accessible healthcare, informed decision-making, and strengthened student welfare.

Throughout the activity, participants gained valuable knowledge about the importance and benefits of PhilHealth membership, helping them better understand healthcare accessibility and financial protection. Students also successfully completed their YAKAP registration, allowing them to become more connected to programs and services designed to support their overall well-being.

Adding to the impact of the initiative, participants also received free medical examination services made possible through the generous support of the Local Government Unit (LGU). These services reinforced the institution’s commitment to prioritizing student health and ensuring that learners begin their academic journey equipped with proper healthcare support.

The success of the activity reflects the power of collaboration among institutions and agencies dedicated to student welfare. Through the combined efforts of HSU, CSWDO, PhilHealth LHIO–Cavite, and the LGU, students were provided not only with healthcare access but also with the confidence and knowledge needed to protect their well-being.

Indeed, the PhilHealth Orientation and YAKAP Registration became a meaningful reminder that investing in student health is also an investment in a stronger, healthier, and more empowered future for the entire community.
