KLD is entering a new phase of institutional development through the implementation of its updated Administrative, Extension, and Student manuals. These documents serve as the foundation for the college’s operations, community engagement, and student life.
Administrative Manual
The transition to the 2025-2028 Administrative Manual marks a significant shift from the previous 2023-2026 edition. This new version introduces a "Center-based" management style to improve operational efficiency. The Vice President domains have been reconfigured, most notably expanding to include the Office of the Vice President for Regal Formation and Mission, Research and External Affairs, which focuses on institutional purpose and student identity. This evolution introduces "Center-based" management, such as the new Center for People Operations, Center for Resource Economy and Asset Management which integrates human resources, resource management, supply, and budgeting under the Office of the President.
Academic units have also been renamed to better align with institutional goals, with the Institute of Behavioral Sciences, Institute of Governance and Development Studies, and the Institute of Science and Mathematics. A new Institute of Foundational Studies was added to oversee general and professional education.
Extension Manual
KLD’s commitment to social responsibility is detailed in its Extension Manual, which directs how academic expertise is shared with the local community. These efforts are guided by the R.E.G.A.L. Agenda, focusing on Relevance, Engagement, Growth, Accessibility, and Linkages. The college implements diverse programs, from health and safety missions to environmental stewardship and livelihood enhancement. Flagship initiatives like S.U.L.O.N.G. T.A.Y.O. address specific needs such as cybersecurity training and sustainable construction. To encourage excellence in these initiatives, KLD uses the Pr.A.I.S.E.S. system, a formal recognition process that honors individuals and units for their dedication to service through awards like the Catalyst for Change and the Chrysalis Award.
Student Manual
The Student Manual serves as a primary companion for all bona fide students at KLD, providing the necessary guidance and structure for their academic experience. It outlines the rules of discipline and the responsibilities students must uphold to contribute to the college’s mission. Beyond just rules, the manual is intended to build a foundation for personal growth and responsible citizenship, helping students set goals and navigate challenges. As a living document, its provisions are subject to review and can be amended after five years of implementation to ensure they remain relevant to the evolving needs of the student body.
