Two faculty members from the Department of Life Sciences joined the 3-day molecular diagnostics training on pathogen detection held on January 14–16, 2026 at the Institute of Biology, UP Diliman. The workshop, organized by The Philippine Society of Parasitology and Public Health Biology Laboratory.
Mr. Earl Cyril G. Rosaldo, participated in the molecular identification of larval helminths in intermediate hosts which focuses on DNA-based methods for identifying parasitic worm, ๐๐ฏ๐จ๐ช๐ฐ๐ด๐ต๐ณ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐จ๐บ๐ญ๐ถ๐ด ๐ค๐ข๐ฏ๐ต๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ด๐ช๐ด, in non-human hosts. While Mr. Christopher A. Malay trained for dried clinical samples for sexually transmitted infection (STI) epidemiology that focuses on ๐๐ฉ๐ญ๐ข๐ฎ๐บ๐ฅ๐ช๐ข ๐ต๐ณ๐ข๐ค๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ข๐ต๐ช๐ด. Both trainings provided firsthand activities from sample preparation, DNA extraction and purification, qPCR detection, and prevalence reporting
The training provided the participants with up-to-date skills mentoring and opportunity for collaboration with PHBL.
